Job Description

This position serves as a coach, mentor and trainer for the nursing (Both RN & LPN) staff on the Inpatient Unit. The position will continually monitor nursing performance across all nursing roles in an effort to identify and address training needs and overall competency. The position will ensure that patients are adequately evaluated and supported.

  • Identify and address knowledge deficits and competency needs through individualized and group training
  • Identify and communicate staffing needs and challenges to supervisor
  • Develop staff to fill specific nursing roles, such as charge nurse, medication nurse, admit/discharge nurse, nursing group leader
  • Develop competency with nursing staff that ensures thorough and objective patient assessments
  • Improve culture regarding the nursing position and patient care
  • Ensure patient interactions are being adequately documented
  • Ensure nursing staff are completing their duties as assigned
  • Work with and support Patient Support Manager, IPU Operations Director, and Director of Nursing

Job Requirements


  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree from accredited nursing program.
  • Certificate or Professional License: Active Indiana nursing license in good standing.
  • Experience: Prefer two (2) years in a psychiatric Inpatient setting. Prefer prior management experience in hospital setting.
