As a Skills Coach/Tech will work primarily within the Bowen Skills Center, which is a Transitional Living Facility/Group Home. This position’s primary focus is to assist adult consumers through advocating, teaching, demonstrating, monitoring, and/or role modeling new, appropriate skills in an effort to build self-sufficiency. Mental Health Technicians may be responsible for transporting clients for appointments and other activities that enhance community access.

Technicians may also provide a limited amount of case management services. A caseload will consist of adult population with serious mentally ill diagnoses.

Responsibilities:

  • Inform clinical staff of observations of client’s functioning, behavior, comments.
  • Develop knowledge of treatment planning model and philosophy.
  • Use approved client de-escalation techniques.
  • Maintain certifications in TCI, CPR, First Aid.
  • Accompany Activity Specialist and clients on community outings.
  • Develop knowledge and skills in nutritional issues, menu planning, food preparation and food safety.
  • Knowledge of clients’ rights and complaint process.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

1-2 years of professional experience preferred
Must be at least 21 years of age.

Must meet at least one of the following educational requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Associate’s Degree
    • 60 undergraduate college credits
    • High school diploma/GED with 5 years related experience

Base pay is dependent on education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: $14.50 - $15.75/hour
  • Associate’s Degree: $13.00 - $14.00/hour
