Mental Health Technicians (3) will work primarily within the Bowen Skills Center. This position’s primary focus is to assist adult consumers through advocating, teaching, demonstrating, monitoring, and/or role modeling new, appropriate skills in an effort to build self-sufficiency. Mental Health Technicians may be responsible for transporting clients for appointments and other activities that enhance community access.

Technicians may also provide a limited amount of case management services. A caseload will consist of adult population with serious mentally ill diagnoses.

Responsibilities:

• Inform clinical staff of observations of client’s functioning, behavior, comments.
• Attend twenty (20) hours of inservices, seminars, or read appropriate material as approved by supervisor on diagnosis, symptomology and medications relevant to the population served in order to make observations known to medical staff.
• Develop knowledge of treatment planning model and philosophy.
• Use approved client de-escalation techniques.
• Maintain certifications in TCI, CPR, First Aid.
• Accompany Activity Specialist and clients on community outings.
• Develop knowledge and skills in nutritional issues, menu planning, food preparation and food safety.
• Knowledge of clients’ rights and complaint process.
